Divya, a young mother from Dharavi (Mumbai), holds her newborn child to her chest. Her husband, Rajesh, worked as a daily wage earner but often found himself unemployed due to his lack of skills. Disappointment and helplessness drove him to take his own life. With no income, Priya is left to care for her newborn alone, unable to feed her child or see a path forward, trapped in a cycle of गरीबी (poverty), भूख (hunger), and निराशा (hopelessness).
Unfortunately, this is not just Divya’s story. It’s a story of crores of Indians. 19 crore Indians go to bed hungry every night. Poverty denies 13 crore children access to basic शिक्षा (education). A 1% increase in बेरोज़गारी (unemployment) leads to a 14% rise in अपराध (crime rates).
In a country as diverse and dynamic as India, बेरोज़गारी (unemployment) cuts across regions, ages, and backgrounds. Among the 4.2 crore unemployed Indians today, the root cause is not always a lack of opportunities—it’s the skill-gap. Even educated individuals find themselves ill-equipped for jobs because they lack the practical, industry-relevant skills that employers demand.
This skill-gap has created a vicious cycle of भूख (hunger), गरीबी (poverty), बेरोज़गारी (unemployment), नशा (addiction), and अपराध (crime). It holds back not just individuals but the progress of our entire nation. Breaking this cycle requires more than small steps and changes—it demands innovative, inclusive solutions.
AjnaVidya was born out of the urgent need to help crores of people like Priya across the country. It’s not just a product or a platform; it’s a movement designed to transform learning into doing; dreaming into achieving. AjnaVidya began its initiative in Karnataka, where it partnered with ITIs to upgrade 150 institutes with modern training standards. This initiative provided hands-on skill training to 9,000 students.
